Cogent Skills, on behalf of the Science Industry Partnership, commissioned Steer Economic Development to work with them to co-produce the Science Industry Partnership’s Life Sciences Skills Strategy. The commission arose from a commitment in the Life Sciences Sector Deal to produce a Life Sciences Skills Strategy with funding from the Office for Life Sciences. Steer Economic Development:
- Acted as a ‘critical friend’ to Cogent Skills to support it to undertake and interpret stakeholder consultations, and to define and calibrate scenarios for demand for skills in the Life Sciences, as inputs to a bespoke forecasting model developed for Cogent Skills by Decision Analysis Services Limited;
- Facilitated a stakeholder workshop to identify priorities and issues, and discussions to identify priorities for action;
- In partnership with Cogent Skills, drafted the Life Sciences Skills Strategy for stakeholder consultation; and
- Attended regular meetings of the SIP Futures Group to engage and gather input from key stakeholders.
The Life Sciences Skills Strategy was launched at the Palace of Westminster on 30 January 2020
The strategy is available on the Science Industry Partnership website.
