Scottish Enterprise commissioned MDS Transmodal (MDST) to undertake a freight flow study of the port of Grangemouth in Scotland. This study looked at challenges and opportunities for development of the port and surrounding area.
During 2016-2017, Steer supported MDST by undertaking detailed interviews with business stakeholders from key industries. These interviews complemented MDST’s desk based analysis and identified key challenges and opportunities to future development of the Grangemouth Investment Zone’s role as a key freight hub.
We developed consultation materials and engaged with key businesses and business intermediaries via face to face and telephone interviews. This included representatives from the food and drink, petro-chemical and logistics industries as well as business intermediaries.
Successes and outcomes
We interviewed 20 organisations and summarised the consultation responses into a clear and detailed overview of findings for inclusion in a wider report.
The outcomes were presented to the project steering group which included Scottish Executive, Forth Ports, Falkirk Council and SEStran.
