Former URS VP joins Steer Davies Gleave

Tim Baldwin joins international transport planning consultancy Steer Davies Gleave from URS Corporation where he was Vice President managing the Transit Planning Group and Urban Design Studio.

Following the acquisition last year of the transportation planning practice of Charles River Associates (CRA International), Tim’s appointment further strengthens Steer Davies Gleave’s presence and growing portfolio of work in North America, further enabling the company to deliver substantial projects in both the US and Canada.  Tim joins at a time of growth as the company continues to win significant projects including both the UBC Line Rapid Transit Study and a Rapid Transit Strategic Network Review in Vancouver, work developing downtown Edmonton's light rail plan, further work with Metrolinx (the transportation planning agency for Greater Toronto) and the Las Vegas monorail, adding to an already impressive list of projects that include the Trans Texas Corridor bid, Sacramento’s 30-year Transit Master Plan, urban and regional transportation plans including the Atlanta Comprehensive Transportation Plan and Portland's High Capacity Transit Plan, traffic and revenue studies of New Jersey’s toll roads, and analyses of PPP policy issues and projects for local and Federal agencies, which include analyses for the USDOT and the Austin and Houston-Galveston areas.

Tim brings with him over 30 years of experience in transit and transportation planning, government relations, and public policy analysis.  Formerly an executive at Dallas Area Rapid Transit and an assistant to a U.S. Congressman, he specializes in managing complex interdisciplinary multi-modal transportation projects and is also adept in transportation-related public policy development and local and regional transportation planning. His areas of expertise include corridor studies and alternatives analyses; local and regional circulator planning; local, regional, and state-wide transit systems planning; intermodal facilities planning; historic and modern streetcar systems; and transit-oriented development and transit-related urban design projects.

Tim’s role at SDG will be to help our existing and new clients develop innovative solutions to their transit and land use challenges through a unique approach that combines Tim's 30 years' of North American industry experience with Steer Davies Gleave's extensive international planning and project development expertise.
