Steer Davies Gleave’s Urban Realm Team has been invited to present at the Complete Streets Forum 2013, to be held in Toronto, Canada. The conference, which will take place on 27 May 2013, brings together urban and transport planning practitioners to discuss and present projects on city shaping and street design from around the world.
Peter Piet, who leads our urban realm practice, will be presenting the ‘Walworth Road mixed use demonstration project’ for which he designed the competition winning design concept to reallocate carriageway space to enable the street function far better as a high street for the local community whilst maintaining traffic flows.
Alongside our client from the City of Toronto, Steer Davies Gleave’s Jonathan Tong will be presenting recent experience with the Toronto Wayfinding Strategy project. It will focus on valuing wayfinding street furniture through multiple account evaluation techniques and the development of an outline business case to support funding discussions.
Peter Piet said: "The Complete Streets Forum is about sharing and promoting best-practice in street design and I’m delighted to be invited to contribute to this debate by sharing our international experience of balancing the transport and placemaking role of our public space.”
