In front of an audience of over 400 guests, Fabrizio Carippo presented on behalf of Aeroporti di Puglia the Company’s new Strategic Plan that provides a solid and ambitious road map for the next ten years.
Aeroporti di Puglia is the operator of the first Italian airport network that includes Bari and Brindisi airports which serve commercial flights; Foggia, which will be designed as an international hub for the Civil protection, and Taranto-Grottaglie, representing a catalyst for space economy applications and projects such as drones, hyper-drones, satellites and, nowadays, suborbital flights for passengers and freight.
The event was attended by delegates from several public institutions, military authorities, Universities and private companies, and ended with a speech from the Governor of the Apulia Region, Michele Emiliano.
The Plan, developed by Steer, provides specific guidelines for Aeroporti di Puglia including a number of high-level goals such as:
- an increase in passenger traffic, especially incoming traffic, to 11 million passengers by 2029 as a result of opening new intercontinental routes towards China, USA and the Far East in the long term;
- improvement of the commercial offer (retail, food & beverages, car parking and car rental) led by an improved passenger experience;
- development of a new accessibility strategy suggesting new actions and schemes for private and public mode of transports in relation to the future passenger profiles of the airports.
The audience's interest was primarily focused on understanding the new international routes that will be developed to intercept new tourist flows attracted by a region with an incredible mix of natural beauty and historic heritage. Another important topic was the analysis of the current level of service of ground accessibility with a focus on what improvements could be made to meet future passengers’ expectations (multimodality, integration within the transport and communication systems, wayfinding, etc.).
With the Aeroporti di Puglia masterplan Steer is strengthening its role in the Italian aviation market. We have already supported on various activities and services for Milan, Florence, Pisa, Catania and Comiso airports.
